Hello Reader! How have you been? I have something PRETTY Big coming up tomorrow. But for today, let's dive in. In this newsletter:
Business = Heart + Brain | ReflectionsBusiness is where the Heart meets the Brain The more I think about it, the more inconceivable it is not to mix my heart with my business. Because this is why I started this entrepreneurial journey: I wanted to live by my heart more than my brain. I felt that the big corporations I had worked for were soulless. I wanted to be a fulfilled human so that I could show up fully in my motherhood. I wanted to use my talents. And not be limited by a job description, stakeholders' high expectations and priorities, company politics, and a corporate culture that I find dehumanizing. And yes, we need the brain to have a business. We need to learn about marketing, sales, strategy, accounting, and God knows what. We need to understand our ideal clients, create offers that answer their needs, and create pricing that serves us, too. But in this HUGE pool of business possibilities, only one thing counts to my mind: what you are called to do. So here's to embracing this fully: business is where the heart meets the brain.Grand Life HorizonsOn Big F frustrations & being smart about your mistakesWho likes being frustrated? And I mean, not the little f frustration. Not the one you have from doing this one task once. You can’t learn something new without frustration. It belongs to the process. As Angela Duckworth says in her book Grit (which I HIGHLY recommend), frustration can lead to crazy breakthroughs. The type of breakthroughs that differentiate you from the rest of the world. The ones that can make you an Olympian or the Genius of the Century. But the thing is, you never know WHEN you’ll have your breakthrough. It can be in a week, a month, a year, a decade… in three decades! And this is what is exhausting:
And there is nothing to do about it. If you truly want it in Business, until the breakthrough shows up, you gotta
Treat them as data. Learn from them. And eventually, I promise. You will get your breakthrough. From You to MeA new section that makes senseReader, I miss the good old days of Facebook. I was there in 2006, and it picked around 2010 for me. Facebook was just an amazing platform for keeping in touch with a large group of friends in a very interactive way. You know, right before our parents joined, and businesses started using it as a marketing tool. I thought I could use my newsletter as a two-way communication—it’s only fair. I value exchanges of ideas, collaborations, and community. So let’s dive into it. So this new section is about you – what you want to:
All you have to do is is to reply to this email (or any, really). Or use the link at the end of this newsletter to a Google Form. And I’ll reply to you in the next edition. How does that sound Reader? What's going on at BMCY?
